Overview: National Satellite Communications Provider Was a Well-Kept Secret
The satellite communications industry is competitive, with two large manufacturers (Iridium and Inmarset) and a multitude of value-added resellers (VARs) and value-added manufacturers (VAM).
As one of the few Iridium service partners to hold both VAR and VAM status, World Communication Center (WCC) (www.wcclp.com) knew that their combination of 24x7 live technical care and the most advanced global satellite technology could rise above the noise. The question was how.
One-Two Punch
Amendola Communications met with WCC in December of 2003 and presented the benefits of an integrated public relations and marketing communications program.
WCC enlisted the Amendola Communications team to provide an integrated public relations and marketing program that would improve corporate branding; introduce the worldwide launch of MariTrack, WCC’s new, end-to-end maritime security and communications solution; and promote its product offerings to global travelers and targeted industries such as government, maritime, aviation and transportation.
Results
The results speak for themselves. Amendola Communications established WCC as industry innovator, with articles and expert quotes throughout leading maritime and industry trade publications. Local coverage included both print, online and TV coverage of their product launches and special events.
Through Amendola Communication’s strategic and tactical guidance, WCC’s efforts translated into comprehensive media coverage on hot topics such as:
- WCC's free satellite phones to deployed soldiers, linking them to friends and families while overseas defending the United States;
- Rescue organization’s use of WCC's satellite voice communications during the aftermath of the Florida Hurricane, which wiped out much of the infrastructure necessary for land and cell connections;
- State of Alaska’s selection of WCC to supply satellite communications services for state government officials and agencies.
WCC tapped into the full-spectrum marketing expertise provided by AC. To promote the MariTrack global launch, AC created a new ad campaign to reflect WCC’s end-to-end solution, which often appeared opposite the increasing editorial coverage of WCC.
To best leverage WCC's appearance in two major industry tradeshows, AC developed a direct mailer campaign, complemented by printed posters for an in-show presence, as well as contributing imagery and the theme to the online banner as part of their online show presence. AC is developing a new corporate identity for the company.
